The Dictionary

Post by richmond62 »

I see that the people "over the road" have sidestepped the extremely crappy state of the LC Dictionary:

https://livecode.com/create-progress-the-three-ds/
a walkthrough of the new Docs portal, which is almost ready to go live. It provides a unified set of documentation specifically for LiveCode Create, including examples, tutorials, the language dictionary and video walkthroughs.
Can we get access to this documentation?

Yes, very soon now!
although this "almost ready" gave me pause for thought, as did "very soon now", because looking at their track record I might win more by betting on the nags at Musselburgh. 8-)
Any news on deploying standalone apps to iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux?

You can do that now using LiveCode Create Native, by first switching it into Classic mode. The need to switch to Classic will be eliminated in the future.
"will be eliminated in the future"

Obviously some people are so confident they have decided to eschew either modal verbs ('should', 'ought to') or hedges.

I notice all the names they use for people who have (supposedly) asked questions are male . . .

Like you I dip in on the old forums and the new on dedicated to LC Create. I am surprised by how few posts are being made and also how LC Create is being described by its users as Alpha grade software. I am so glad that I did not take advantage of Runrev's offer which appears to have amounted to "pay us some money and we will let you be an alpa tester". At least they had the good grace to tell us that our present product would remain available until the license expired in 2027.

Given their history terms such as "almost ready", "very soon now" are red flags and I find their role out of LC Create strange or at least premature. Still what do I know except there are dozens of other languages that are cheaper and have flexible licensing.
