I don't have any real experience with C# but I have frequently referenced the docs on Xamarin site while wrapping Objective C (oddly enough) APIs with Extension Builder, it doesn't look like the worst language, I find it fairly readable.
Anyway here's an unfinished project to create a HyperCard clone with .NET ( C#):
