Meh, I agreed with almost all of what you said there, but definitely not this line. Unless you mean just being able to put some columnized data and some media content on a screen. HTML5 / WebASM and 'Live Reloading" editors is beginning to enable more user/event driven 'applications', but still I'd say majority of mortals can't handle JS, HTML/CSS, JSON, more cryptic looking syntax, etc., it's not at all user centric dev.

I definitely see the advantage to using common open source web/JS engines like V8 as your app's 'Engine' since that comes with support / contributions from top browser makers, but with WASM means it doesn't have to be JavaScript driving it. I'm very interested in an xTalk that could run on such an engine, the way Python and Lua implementations have been ported to WebASM. Even if there's an intermediary transspiler involved, I want to write code in 'natural language' (or as close as possible to that). I may at some point try to compile OpenXION/JVM bits to WebASM, should be doable with GraalVM.
