Unhelpful Error messages

This error message is just about as unhelpful as it could be because the command should be:

export snapshot from img "XXaXX" to file "XXaXX.png" as PNG

"bad image type"

Bollo! I spelt 'snapshot' wrongly.

Somewhere back in either the LiveCode or the MetaCard days someone thought that these error message would help people!

That person is the one who needs help.

Changing any of this requires changes in the engine, as how this is interpreted and the errors returned will need to be changed there. That's not going to happen on MacOS any time soon by the looks of it.
