Importing SVG images

Post by richmond62 »

If an SVG image is imported via the 'import image' menu item any colours
get either lost or distorted:

While it is perfectly possible to do a "2 step job" by opening an SVG
in GIMP and exporting it as a PNG which is subsequently imported
the scaleability is lost.

If this could be rectified in OXT that might 'steal a march' on our friends in Edinburgh.

I remember a tool that had a svg graphic of a tiger. I think it was in color.

Indeed: but as Alejandro has disappeared into the Dominican sunset, and most of
those file links are dead, I have no idea whether that was imported or something else . . .

Assume that that was an imported ESP file . . .

So . . . I don't know how to interpret the following:
-

Library "drawing.livecodescript" in LC version 9.6.9 has this Copyright notice.
/* Copyright (C) 2021 LiveCode Ltd.
* All rights reserved.
*
* LiveCode Ltd. grants you a non-exclusive limited license to use this file,
* with or without modification, with the LiveCode product and in standalones
* built using the LiveCode product.
*
* Redistribution in source form, with or without modification, is permitted
* to other licensees of the LiveCode product provided that the following
* conditions are met:
*
* * Redistributions of source code must retain the above copyright notice,
* this list of conditions and the following disclaimer.
*
* * The name LiveCode Ltd. may not be used to endorse or promote products
* derived from this software without specific prior written permission.

----
The question is, surely, whether 'licensees' includes users of the Open Source version and any derivatives of that.

"Naughty Frederick", by swapping the drawing.livecodescript files from LC 9.6.9 into
LC 9.6.3 got gradient imports with my sample SVG:

But the question here is whether "Naughty Frederick" should have his bottom smacked, or
he should be patted on the head and told, "Good Boy!"

"Naughty Frederick" gets a smacked bottom:

"Versions of all source files present in 9.6.4 and onwards are not available under a dual license- only under a restricted commercial license as laid out in the commercial license agreement and thus are incompatible with LiveCode Community (9.6.3 and before) and any derivatives of it. Specifically, the versions of all source files in 9.6.4 and above are not available as GPLv3 licensed versions and are incompatible with that license."
