CUT off in my prime
I wonder why I CANNOT get the key-command (CMD-X / CTRL-X) to CUT something to work on MacOS 12 with OXT Lite 1.10, and have to use either the EDIT menu, or a right-click-contextual thing?
- -
Very funny when ALL the other key-commands work.

Aksherly . . .
Working, as I do, with a game half-keyboard to the left: different ones with my iMac & my Mac Mini: 'normal' keyboard, 3 button mouse, and so on, it's extremely erratic and unpredictable whether COPY, CUT, or PASTE are going to work with any of those methods (sometimes they ONLY work the second time with the EDIT menu).

Re: CUT off in my prime
Thanks for finding that Richmond.
If you check for updates (and if on MacOS, manually relaunch) after applying them - please see if that's any better.
Should take you to: 202503151608 -- yeah, I'm a month ahead of myself with the numbering.

Hmmm... but looking at your screenshot, seems like you also have that line of text selected in the field?richmond62 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 6:36 pm CopyText.jpg

True, and that's potentially another issue: but can you deselect it? If you can, what happens then? Does the edit menu then behave?richmond62 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 6:59 pm That should NOT be selected in POINTER mode anyway: and I have multiple objects selected.
I can't select a line of text and a graphic at the same time (as you'd expect), but the only difference is this is not MacOS.

Yes, I can deselect the text by clicking inwith the field, and the edit menu then DOES behave: but that should not be necessary.True, and that's potentially another issue: but can you deselect it? If you can, what happens then? Does the edit menu then behave?

Re: CUT off in my prime
That's good. Glad that at least works.
So my next question is how do you manage to select a line of text in the field at the same time you select objects with the resize handles? I can't manage that here.

Arr: sheer skill! So my next question is how do you manage to select a line of text in the field at the same time you select objects with the resize handles?

Much the same way as my Dad in 1972, playing tennis left-handedly, managed to draw blood from his left elbow.

@Richmond yeah I can't manage that here either, currently on a laptop that's runing macOS 11.7.10 ('BigSur') using OXT rc5, I need to update OXT lite to 1.10.

Re: CUT off in my prime
Now off to try the same in Linux and Windows for comparison... (again, in 1.10).
On Linux, as soon as I select either the pointer tool or another object, the text selection in the field disappears. (As you'd expect).
Same on Windows - I can't select the text line as soon as I choose the pointer tool. MacOS seems to be the odd one out.
I have two theories with this. The first is that it's something to do with the fact the mac engine is lagging behind the others, and perhaps this is something that was fixed in the 9.7.0 engine. OR, perhaps this is just MacOS being erratic.
I would lean towards the last option, as Richmond's tests in MacOS 12 also show the objects selected as well as the text selection, so I think it's just as the MacOS versions increase, we are going to see more weirdness.

Really? Surely not?MacOS seems to be the odd one out.

Well, let's fire up a "plain vanilla" version of LCC 963 and see what happens:it's something to do with the fact the mac engine is lagging behind the others, and perhaps this is something that was fixed in the 9.7.0 engine.

Yes: that is possible in LCC 963.

Yes, can confirm that's an original issue in LCC 9.6.3 under MacOS too.

Re: CUT off in my prime
Funnily enough I was just playing a word-game with my teddy bear while that was downloading and installing:
It goes like this:
1. Think of a person, group of people, institution, or company.
2. Think up as many adjectives as you can associated with #1.
3. Roll on the floor laughing.
#2 yielded: complacent, slack, uncaring . . . at that point both my bear and I were on the floor.

Re: CUT off in my prime
Now: re 9.7.0 . . .
was that you that fixed 'it'?
or had it been fixed, but as someone was skipping the difficult bits it did NOT get rolled into 'ten'?

Re: CUT off in my prime
No, I didn't fix it in 9.7.0. I bet if I could compile the mac engine for 9.7.0 it would still show this strange behaviour.
I think it's a mac abnormality.
In fact, this bug goes back a long way on MacOS: I wonder what the LCC engine 7 on MacOS does? Same bug exists as far back as LCC7 at least.

In fact, going back further, the bug is in v6 of the engine:
It works as expected in version 2 of the engine (while it was still RunRev):
