Re-editing posts

1. I often (especially when I'm tired) make stupid spelling mistakes when I post something: seeing that later I find I CANNOT go back and correct that.
2. After a good night's sleep I often want to return to a posting and correct/edit/delete things but CANNOT.
Please can you set things so that later editing is possible.
