There was quite obviously a fairly big reshuffle here, as in 7.1.4 at
LiveCode Community 7.1.4.app/Contents/Tools/Documentation/packaged_xml
we have a series of LC stacks in 2 folders ('dictionary', and 'glossary') called 'revDocClump_§.rev' (where '§' is a number).

Dictionary items are stored as custom properties.

This is the exact kind of thing I'm leaning
away from: obfusicated text.
My aim is to go the opposite direction, and other than drawing a layout for my new dictionary, I'm pretty much there.
Then it's just a case of jazzing it up (I'm going to use & reference the same icons you find in an open script editor for the function, handler icons etc). Just so it all matches in.
Ultimately, it'll be function first though, then I'll post a screenshot for feedback.
Anyway - don't mean to hijack your post. I'll
open a new one dedicated to the new dictionary.

You're not hijacking anything.
Owing to a set of circumstances outwith my control all I have access to today is a polycarbonate iMac running MacOS 10.7.5, and everything from LC 4.5 through 7.1.4 to 8.2.0 "Depressing", so thought I'd just have a poke around.
However, those custom props for the dictionary did make me reflect on exactly what 'Open Source' means, and I cannot help thinking that some people have been playing fast and loose with that definition for a long time.
End-users should have been supplied with, at the very least, away to decode WTF is in those customs props, edit it, and re-encode it.

Did you read the code that uses that data?
