Learning/Problems from across the way #3

Post by richmond62 »

https://livecode.com/livecode-9-6-13-rc ... f-updates/

The complete change list for 9.6.13 rc-1 is:

#1 The Android engine is now built using version 34 of the Android API
#2 The version of the Google Billing Library used on Android for in-app purchases has been updated to 6.2.1
#3 The CEF browser version has been updated to 126.0.6478.127 on Windows
#4 Pasting styled text from some Windows applications (such as Word and WordPad) will no longer cause a trailing NUL character to also be inserted
#5 The paint tool’s brush selection palette now opens with the correct height
#6 The Newsletters item of the Help menu has been renamed to Blog and now points to the LiveCode blog
#7 The ask and answer dialogs no longer inherit their text color from the main stack when built as a standalone
#8 Objects with a native layer inside of a group will now position correctly on macOS
#9 Using “there is” to check for existence of an object can no longer cause subsequent commands not to run correctly in certain circumstances when the script debugger is enabled in the IDE
#10 Fields with listBehavior set will no longer render an anomalous partial caret on Windows in certain circumstances
#11 Pasting text from some Windows applications (such as Word and WordPad) will no longer cause unwanted trailing characters to be inserted

I have inserted the item numbering.

Things that might interest us over here:

#4 (and #11 looks like a reduplication).

#5

#7 I fell foul of this one the other day when an ask dialogue in my Devawriter opened with the 'dogshit brown' of my mainstack backGroundColor, leaving the text unreadable.

Well, on that wish-list (as far as we are concerned):

4. I may change the "paste unformatted" in the edit menu to clean those characters.
5. Already fixed (I made it draggable back in v1.04 when I was fixing other bits)
7. *Might* have inadvertently fixed this recently, but would not be too difficult to get them to remove their background colours in a standalone.

edit: have refined point 5 a bit, so that if you have a screen where the tools palette only just fits vertically, the brush palette opens positioned on screen (rather than requiring the user to drag it). This will be incorporated into another update (I'm trying to put a few changes together all at once).

Just been poking around here:

https://livecode.com/release-9-6-12-stable/

and came across this:

"Using the import snapshot command on an object will now correctly render text when used in the server and standalone (in no ui mode) engines on Windows"

As I do not have access to Windows I cannot comment.

And here: https://livecode.com/livecode-9-6-10-stable-released/

"The lock cursor command now behaves correctly on macOS"

Not being funny, but how does this benefit us?

Are those 'problems' still present in OXT?

"Using the import snapshot command on an object will now correctly render text when used in the server and standalone (in no ui mode) engines on Windows"

"The lock cursor command now behaves correctly on macOS"

Particularly the latter one.
