Wikipedia
Erm, well, Yes . . .
Not rocket science, and most of what I have put there has been shamelessly ripped off from the LiveCode Wikipedia page.
Hope someone might add a bit more as at the moment it is a distinctly stubby stub.

This is horribly out of date, but we need something a bit like this on our Wikipedia page:

The Raspberry Pi build was a personal project of a staff member that the company made available for download through their Downloads page as a courtesy to the community, but it was never a supported product.
Within one or two OS updates the installer stopped working with a hard crash, and if you could work around that to get it running then any clicks in the IDE's menu bar also resulted in a hard crash.
It was possible for sufficiently motivated users to mod their OS to work around those issues, but as the years move on without updates I can't imagine stability for that engine has improved.
If the the OXT project releases experimental builds please note them as such.

Re: Wikipedia
I have mentioned desktop platforms ONLY.
If you don't like what (little) I have done: go and sort it out and/or add some more stuff.

I expressed no opinion about anything you'd written on Wikipedia about OXT.richmond62 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 4:15 pm I have mentioned desktop platforms ONLY.

I did offer a clarification about the content you posted here from a page someone else had written about a different platform.
My only suggestion was that if this project were to add a table of supported platforms, please note experimental builds as such to help manage expectations.
I'm unable to see how this is in any way controversial, or how it could relate to anything you've posted to Wikipedia for OXT.
In the contrary, I don't mind offering my first opinion on your Wikipedia entry here in this reply to note that it's a useful move and is off to a good start.

Not living in litigious North America I cannot see how my:I'm unable to see how this is in any way controversial
could imply that anything about what you wrote was controversial: but, since we seem to be divided by a common language let me explain what that meant when it left my keyboard, and before anyone interpreted it.If you don't like what (little) I have done: go and sort it out and/or add some more stuff.
You may not like what I have written, you may feel that what I have written could be written better, you may feel that I have written things in an odd order, you may feel that you can add some valuable stuff to what I have written . . .
If so, Please feel free (and I will not sue you, issue a 'cease and desist' order, come after you with the Bordeaux clamps, or anything else for that matter) to rewrite, append, enhance, whatever anything I have written on that Wikipedia page.

Re: Wikipedia
This is NOT GOOD NEWS, and I do NOT have the time just now to continue work on this:
- -
My work has been deleted completely, and a 'draft' that has been preserved is from December 2023, so I am extremely pissed-off.

Re: Wikipedia
Yeah, I tried to edit a page on there before and they said that I had no sources. So I went back to them asking for clarification and it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. At that point, I decided I was done with wikipedia.
I did manage to sneak a crafty edit on there though

xTalk - After development of the community version of Livecode was ceased by Livecode, the open source version was forked into what is now OpenXTalk. This fork is under development at the openxtalk.org website.

Re: Wikipedia
The article still exists, and can be edited. The Wikipedia system included a link to the Draft page where it was moved, and the two editors who moved it provided specific guidance on how it can be enhanced to meet their guidelines for publication:richmond62 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 4:03 pm Well, as that was 6 hours of my work down the toilet, my attitude at the moment is distinctly negative.

Re: Wikipedia
That is NOT true: the draft article is from December 2023 and has nothing whatsoever to do with the work I did over the weekend.
- -
For the sake of argument, my article contained the following image:
- -
and an explanation of what that script was for.
Being STUPID enough to trust Wikipedia I did not keep a copy of my work.

What did they say when you asked them what they did with your edits?

Re: Wikipedia
And just exactly HOW would one go about asking them? What did they say when you asked them what they did with your edits?
The deletion log is completely unhelpful :
- -
The whole 'thing' makes me tired, fed-up and so I have decided that someone else can spend 6 hours so someone deletes all their work without even allowing them to find a back up: I have better things I can do than waste another 6 hours.

Re: Wikipedia
Hard to say, it's been several years since I had to make a request for a similar issue. In my case I got a reply within a few hours, and the issue was completely resolved by the next day.richmond62 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 7:15 pmAnd just exactly HOW would one go about asking them? What did they say when you asked them what they did with your edits?

Re: Wikipedia
^ exactly this. It's how I'm currently feeling about attempting to get the engine to compile. I'll leave it to someone else - but I know the exact feeling.richmond62 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 7:15 pm The whole 'thing' makes me tired, fed-up and so I have decided that someone else can spend 6 hours so someone deletes all their work without even allowing them to find a back up: I have better things I can do than waste another 6 hours.
Makes me feel tired, fed up and also angry. Not at anyone in particular - angry at the process more than anything. Why can't the whole thing be easier? Seemingly taking something that should not be a hard task and making it overly (and unnecessarily) complex?
You could just set up your own content management system - so you can log in and add articles and posts as much as you like. In fact, I'm thinking of doing that. Something we have control of rather than being dictated to about what is 'approved' and what isn't because it doesn't seem to meet some obscure undisclosed wikipedia mindset.
