While on a Mac OXT Lite is a self-contained package so one can easily play "happy little monkeys" mucking around with its components, I would be grateful if someone could tell me where to find those files on a Linux system.

In Linux, it's essentially all self contained in one folder too.
At least for OXT lite, it's all in /opt/openxtalk/openxtalk_x86_64/
