The OXT Lite update patching system strikes me as far the most sensible way to do things at the moment, as opposed to monster downloads.

Yes, I think that it's working well. Especially as far as the mac is concerned.
So much so, I've put a copy of the updates stack in the same folder as the mac download for 0.96. It doesn't matter where it's run from, as it'll put everything where it needs to go after the updates are downloaded.
It does require someone to be fairly savvy with the terminal though (even if it is only copying and pasting). I just wish there was an elegant way to do raised permissions in LCC/OXT across all platforms. - someone please comment if you know how.
